The packs have been living in harmony for many years, but now they are becoming restless. A freakishly hot summer has all but dried up the Open Forest Pack's water supply, and Lake Ada, while willing to allow them to drink from the spring, is having problems of it's own. A group of hunters have moved into the lake area, and they are poisoning the lake with their rubbish and waste. Eventually, wolves are killed if they drink from the water. In their desperate search for water, they forget their fears and enter the territory of the Deep Forest pack. The Deep Forest pack is adamant that they should leave straight away, not allowing the desperate wolves to drink. The Open Forest pack and the Lake Ada pack declare war on the Deep Forest wolves, who fight bitterly to defend their territory and water sources. Soon, the Deep Forest pack is leading the attack, and the weakened Open Forest and Lake Ada packs are being massacred. They were all but wiped out. However, two survived. Knocked out in the deciding battle, they wake to find themselves in their camps with rain pouring down. Soon after, they fall in love, and the female discovers that she is expecting pups. Each of them take one pup to a different territory. Soon after, the packs are blossoming. When the two original wolves die, so does the story of the dark and secretive pack in the Deep Forest, who saved the lives of the great leaders. It becomes no more than a beautiful myth.
